Is It Safe to Book Direct? Your Questions Answered

Booking direct is cheaper and simpler, and people still hesitate, mostly because of a handful of reasonable worries. This post answers the ones we hear most often, straight, so you can decide with the facts rather than a hunch.

“Is it safe to pay on a small website?”

Yes. Payments on this site go through a secure, encrypted card processor, the same kind used by the big platforms, and your card details are never seen or stored by us. You get an instant email confirmation with your booking reference, the address is released with your check‑in instructions, and you have a phone number and an email that reach a real person. If anything about the process looks off, call before you pay.

“What if something goes wrong during my stay?”

On a platform, “something going wrong” means a support ticket and a policy. Here it means a message to Kelly, who answers the same day and usually far faster. Wi‑Fi down, hot tub not heating, a neighbour’s alarm going off at 2am: these are the things that occasionally happen in any home, and the difference is how fast they are dealt with. Direct guests get the host’s attention first, because there is no intermediary to go through.

“Do I lose the platform’s protection?”

The platform guarantee mostly protects against a listing not being what it claimed. The honest answer is that our protection is that Kelly hosts every one of these homes herself, the photos are of the actual property, and the reviews you see on the platforms were written about these same houses. We have nothing to hide by being off‑platform; we are on the platforms too. We just prefer you to keep the service fee.

“Is the price really lower?”

Yes, because the guest service fee does not exist here. Compare the total, not the nightly rate, on the same dates and you will see it.

“What if I need to cancel?”

Our cancellation terms are in the Terms and Conditions and written plainly. If the reason is a hurricane forecast for Crystal Beach or a medical appointment in Houston that moved, tell us. A person is making the decision, and people are more flexible than policies.

“Will I get the same check‑in experience?”

Yes. Self check‑in with a code, instructions sent before you arrive, and a home that has been walked through and checked, not just cleaned. It does not matter to the house how you booked.

“Why do you push direct booking so much?”

Because it is better for both sides and we would rather say so than pretend otherwise. You pay less. We keep more, and it goes back into the homes. And we get to talk to you before you arrive, which makes for a better stay.

Still unsure? Call (845) 335‑5779 and ask whatever you like. Otherwise, check availability or browse our homes.
