Weekend Break or Weekday Deal? Your Guide to a Walk-to-Jack-Frost Townhome in Lake Harmony
Picture this: you lace up your boots, step out the front door, and five minutes later you’re at Jack Frost. No icy parking lot or shuttle line, and no loading the car with skis. That’s everyday life at our mountain townhome in Lake Harmony, Pennsylvania.
The townhome has 2 bedrooms, 1.5 baths, and a queen sleeper sofa, so it sleeps up to 7. It also has a fully equipped kitchen and Wi-Fi that can handle a full workday. Whether you want a classic weekend break or a quieter, better-value weekday stay, this guide will help you plan the right trip and save money by booking with us directly.

Why Lake Harmony Works Any Day of the Week
A 5-Minute Walk to Jack Frost
Location matters more than almost anything on a ski trip, and ours is hard to beat. Jack Frost is a 5-minute walk from the front door, or about 30 seconds by car. You can come back for lunch, warm up, and head out again for the afternoon without fighting for a parking spot.
Two Mountains, One Lift Ticket
You’re not limited to one mountain. Big Boulder is just a 10-minute drive from the townhome, and a Big Boulder lift ticket also gets you onto the slopes at Jack Frost (Discover NEPA). Ski Jack Frost in the morning and drive over to Big Boulder in the afternoon. The region averages around 60 inches of snow a year, so winter here really feels like winter (Islands).
Trails, Waterfalls, and Fall Color
Lake Harmony isn’t just a ski town. Nearby Hickory Run State Park covers 15,990 acres and has more than 40 miles of trails. Fall foliage usually peaks around mid-October (Islands). In warmer months you can walk or bike the Kidder Hike & Bike Trail, play a round at Jack Frost National or Split Rock, or book a guided fishing trip (Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau).
The Weekend Break: A 48-Hour Plan
A weekend here is easy to plan, because the mountain is right next door.
Friday: Arrive and Settle In
There’s parking for 2 cars, so groups of 7 should carpool. That’s one less thing to worry about anyway, because you won’t need to drive to the slopes. Sort out who’s sleeping where: the main bedroom has a king bed, the upstairs bedroom has a twin bed and a trundle bed that sleeps 2 (great for kids or friends), and the queen sleeper sofa sleeps 2 more. Then stock the fridge and cook a relaxed dinner in the fully equipped kitchen. Or head out to one of the local spots around Lake Harmony and save your energy for tomorrow.
Saturday: Slopes or Trails
In ski season, walk over for first chair while everyone else is still looking for parking. Ski the morning, stroll back to the townhome for a warm lunch, and head out again for the afternoon.
Visiting outside ski season? Spend Saturday at Hickory Run State Park. Its Boulder Field is a National Natural Landmark, a huge, unusual stretch of rock that kids and adults love exploring (Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau).
Sunday: Waterfalls, Then Home
Before you leave, take the 0.6-mile Hawk Falls loop to a 25-foot waterfall. If you’d rather go a little farther, the Bear Trail is an easy 1.1 miles and a good place to spot wildlife (Islands). It’s a nice, easy way to end the trip before the drive home.
The Weekday Deal: Quieter, Cheaper, and Easier to Work From
Weekends are great, but weekdays might be the Poconos’ best-kept secret.
Shorter Lines, Emptier Trails, Better Rates
Midweek visitors usually get more room and lower prices. Across the region, midweek getaway offers can save travelers up to 30% (Pocono Mountains Midweek Deals). Our weekday deals follow the same idea: arrive on a weeknight, enjoy quieter lift lines and empty trails, and pay less than a Saturday-night rate.
Morning Runs, 9 a.m. Calls
This is where the townhome really stands out. The Wi-Fi is fast enough for video calls and full workdays, and the lifts are a 5-minute walk away. Get a few runs in at opening, walk back, and log on for your morning meeting. Spend the afternoon on spreadsheets, then end your day with a mountain sunset instead of a commute.
If you can work from anywhere, why not work from here Monday through Thursday?

Townhome vs. Hotel vs. Cabin
Choosing where to stay comes down to space, convenience, and cost per person. Here’s how our townhome compares:
| Our Townhome | Typical Hotel | Typical Cabin | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Guests | Up to 7 under one roof | Often needs 2–3 rooms | Varies |
| Sleeping setup | King, twin, trundle, queen sleeper sofa | 1–2 beds per room | Varies |
| Bathrooms | 1 full + 1 half | 1 per room | Varies |
| Kitchen | Fully equipped | Rarely | Often |
| Distance to Jack Frost | 5-minute walk | Usually a drive | Usually a drive |
| Remote-work Wi-Fi | Yes | Hit or miss | Hit or miss |
| Shared living space | Yes | No | Yes |
For a group, one townhome usually works out cheaper per person than several hotel rooms. You also get a shared space to hang out, cook, and relax together.
Booking Direct vs. Airbnb and Booking.com
Where the Fees Go
Booking platforms are convenient, but that convenience has a price. Airbnb’s help center lists a guest service fee of 14.1% to 16.5% of the booking subtotal (Airbnb Help Center). Airbnb is also moving many hosts to a single 15.5% host-only fee (Houst). Booking.com charges hosts a commission that averages around 15% (Triad Vacation Rentals).
Either way, roughly one dollar in every six or seven goes to the platform instead of your vacation. On a $1,000 stay, that’s about $150.

Seasonal Timing Tips
-
Ski season: Jack Frost has opened on December 5 in each of the past two seasons, though 2026–27 dates haven’t been announced yet (Stunning Lake Harmony Chalet). December weekends fill up fast, so book early.
-
Fall foliage: Aim for mid-October for peak color.
-
Summer: Trails, golf, and fishing make warm-weather weekends easy to fill. One note: Lake Harmony itself is privately owned and reserved for guests at waterfront properties (Pocono Mountains), so plan your water days around nearby parks and rivers.
-
Heads-up: As of October 2026, the Split Rock indoor waterpark is closed until further notice (Pocono Reserve), so check its status before planning around it.
